Why is it that IE is tending to display a sliding side-bar
for my web pages that do not require one? FF doesn't do it for the
same page. Is this something I can control with the HTML, or is is
a browser option?
eg.
http://www.pieter-bruegel.co.uk/gallery/pages/gallery%20of%20images.htm
on IE has a superfluous side-bar on my IE7(boo), and no
side-bar on FF (hurrah).Side Slide-bar
I believe it's an IE thing. I'm not sure if you can do
anything about it. However, I would recommend that you remove
spaces from all of your file names (pages, images, etc) and replace
them with an underscore.
gallery%20of%20images.htm actually indicates that the page is
named
gallery of images.htm
Some browsers have had trouble with these file names.
Instead, use
gallery_of_images.htm or galleryofimages.htmSide Slide-bar
Thanks.
I've done that. Page is now
imagegallery.htm

It's called a scrollbar. There is no spec to live up to. IE
puts it on by
default; FF only adds it when it's needed (i.e. when the page
content is
longer than the view window).
