Template Editable Region

Is there any way to set the width of a editable region? I
would like the editable region to be 521px wide to show users how
much width they have to work with when viewing in contribute. I can
put a 521px wide div inside the region as default, but I would
rather not have an extra div just floating around. Any ideas?

Editable regions are not layout devices. They cannot
influence the

placement of things on the page. If you have a layout
problem, don't look

at the template markup, look at the basic HTML structuring
the page.

Template Editable Region
Murray, I don't have a layout issue. This is purely a UI
issue in Dreamweaver and Contribute. When a user is working with a
template-based page they see the blue box around the editable
region. The actual content area on my template is 521px wide, but
when my template is first applied to a page the editable region box
is not 521px wide. It is only as wide as the default text that I
put in the editable region. All I want is for that editable region
box to show up 521px wide so that my users know that they have that
amount of space to work with.

This might seem stupid, but I can see where a very stupid
user could get confused.
Can't happen. Sorry.

NateWeb - you could pre-fill the template with lorem ipsum
(dummy text) (use a text generator
http://www.lipsum.com/ )that
demonstrates how wide the content area can be. When replicating
regions or creating new pages based on the template, the filler
text would populate the editable region - the user would then just
need to remove the text and plug in their own.

Hope this helps: Taverniti
