I am developing a 508-compliant computer-based training
application for an organization that requires compatibility with
IBM's Home Page Reader.
I am having a significant amount of trouble getting HPR to
read the Accessibility text smoothly. I can open the HTML file in
HPR, but it doesn't start reading the text immediately. I have to
exit the embedded Flash player, then click in the Graphic View
(thus re-enabling the Flash player); it starts by reading the
Project Properties text, then the embedded slide title, then the
Accessibility text.
If I use a hotkey to move to the next slide, HPR stops
reading the text, and I have to go through the same gyrations
again.
I'm not sure I believe this is a problem with Captivate
per se
; I wonder if maybe - just maybe - HPR's not really compatible
with Captivate's HTML-wrapped Flash files.
Has anyone successfully published 508-compliant Captivate
files and read them in IBM's Home Page Reader? If so, I'd be
interested to know how you got things to work smoothly.
